I like it! My sister has the ipod touch and for the money my zune runs circles around it! Very user friendly ( and I’m not the most tech savvy) and the colors are a plus. My husband has the red and it’s pretty too. I have all my music, several podcasts and a couple of television series on it now with a lot of storage space still left and mines just an 8 GB. Can’t say enough excellent things!

Fantastic MP3 player!

Wow, I was very surprised with this product! I was very iffy to try it after reading all the reviews, but finished up with getting it. At first I owned an iPod shuffle. Don’t get me incorrect, it’s a excellent mp3 player. But the Zune… wow!!! You will seriously like this. The scroll pad is perfect, and I loved the way you can change your background. It has a radio receiver in it for the radio, and you can watch movies on it, too. If you hear anyone being nippy about the battery life, there’s a way around it: just holding down the play/pause button puts it into sleep mode! To actualy turn it off, you have to hold down the back button and the down area of the touch pad. It saves a ton of power this way. I’m glad I made the switch from Apple to Microsoft!

The Zune is a really nice, sleek looking, and very compact mp3 player. The interface is very intuitive and functional and the whole unit is very well designed. The software works well for what it is, and has become my main media player, even if only because it is required to get music on the Zune. That said, there are really many features of the software which allow you to really nicely categorize and organize music. For example, all song and album info (artist, year, composer, track number, etc.) can be altered directly through the software, so at least in the Zune library, that is the info that will be recognized, and thusly on the unit itself.

So, my only real complaint at all would be the lack of an EQ, and this is the only reason I gave it four instead of five stars. There is no EQ whatsoever with the software, whether listening to music directly from the Zune media player or the mp3 player. I have read this is because of battery life issues – I reckon Microsoft just wanted to get the product on the Market. It would be really nice though, because even with nicer headphones (the package ear buds are worth upgrading), the improved sound cannot be truly taken advantage of.

All in all, I am very very pleased with it. You can carry as many songs, pics, videos, and games with you as your unit space allows.

I have had a 30 GB Zune for a few years now and when my son wanted a new MP3 player I suggested getting him this Zune 8 GB. He likes it. The Zune software was simple for him to learn to use and the quality of the player is really excellent. He is very satisfied with his Zune.

Cooler than an ipod

It’s not that the Zune is technically “better” than an ipod, but it’s that this mp3 player is just much more fun to use and has a better interface. The only problem I have is that you have to really “shut off” the player every time. You can’t just hold down the play button and reckon it’s off. It still drains the battery.. That’s why I give it a 4/5. Plus the games drain the battery too. Oh well. Custom backgrounds FTW!

A 1,000 times better than ANY Ipod

Don’t listen to the Apple fan boys who rate this product one star. I have personally owned every iteration of the Ipod and EVERY single one of them was crap. They all crashed non stop and were constantly trying to erase my music library. I own the flash drive version (this one) and my son owns the hard drive version and we have had NO FAILURE. Is the Zune software the prettiest thing Microsoft has ever made? Far from it. But as far as aesthetics goes, Itunes is the worst looking software I have ever seen. The latest version of the Zune software is much better. Making playlists is a snap and moving music to and FROM the Zune is much simpler than the Ipod. Hands down, the Zune is a much better music and video player. The icing on the cake? The Amazon MP3 store. Unprotected music, baby. 16gb flash Zune and Amazon MP3 store. I’m in heaven…

wow. I got this after my toshiba gigabeat finally died after about 2 years of regular use. I wanted it because it has fm radio, which the Toshiba did not have. I like it. It works fantastic and the software is awesome too. The picture and video quality is brilliant, and it sounds as excellent as the Toshiba without having to adjust any sound settings. I like that it has games too, although I dont play them a lot because they drain the battery. If you are looking for a new mp3 player, the Zune is certainly worth a try.
