What more can you ask for, Zune and Gears of War 2. Its Microsoft goodness all over the place. 120 GB of musix, podcast and video storing love. Try out the wireless syncing and marketplace options and see why this is a true IPOD killer.
Excellent alternative to iPods
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
For anyone who doesn’t know, the zune is Microsofts answer to the iPod and it does a super job of it. The touchpad is a definite upgrade over the scrollwheel in my opinion and the screen is a bit bigger if you like to watch videos or play games(which Have been becoming more commonplace for the zune). The zune software can be a tad clunky but for $15 per month you get unlimited downloads of most music(there are some bands that don’t participate but you can choose to buy those separately for 80 cents per song). Microsoft has recently added the perk of getting 10 songs for free per month.
The extra gears goodies on the zune is a nice bonus if you are a gamer also. Overall I rate this purchase a 4.5 out of 5.
Great Product from a Great Company
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This purchase was an upgrade of my 30 gig Zune I had purchased last year. They are significantly better now with a smaller size as well as adding the new touch pad. I also love the Zune software on the computer comapared to a very complicated iTunes setup. The Zune also functions well with my computer and my Xbox 360. A recommended buy for any music fan!

Great device. Lots of memory for storing movies, pics, music. Have about 40 movies lots of music and many-many pics right now and still have about 90g left. Highly recommend
Better than an iPod
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I first got a Zune 2 years ago for xmas. My hubby and I loved it so much we’d fight over which one of us got to use it. This year, I bought the special edition Gears of War edition for my hubby since he loves that game.
The best part of Zune is the firmware updates. His zune came with the latest updates that included games. When I plugged mine “old” zune in, I got the update and recieved the games also. So no matter what, your zune can only get better!
I have friends that have iPods and they always drool over my Zune. The songs are cheaper also overall. And since it’s Micrsoft, if you have any Microsoft, Xbox, or Zune points, they all work the same so you can use them to buy songs if you want. All it takes is a Windows Live ID. WE LOVE OUR ZUNES!
Zune 120GB Gears Of War Edition
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Zune 120 GB Video MP3 Player, Gears of War 2 Special Edition (Black)I purchased the Zune 120GB player after researching others. I bought it mostly for the capacity, I wanted capability to download videos & my music collection. I traded up from a Creative touch 40GB.
The video looks great, the music sounds good. The controls take a little getting used to. To go to a chosen menu or screen you have to hit in the center of the choose button. I have big thumbs and I would hit a little off center and it would send me back often, but once I got used to it the controls are not a problem.
The feature I was nervous about was the wireless connectivity, but it works great. I usual just hook it up to my PC via the usb wire that came with my player. The bonus feature with this player is the Zune marketplace, if you join on the the Zune pass you get to download 10 songs a month that you get to keep even if you quit the program.
The few features on the Zune that are missing; are there is no bass boast or an equalizer This is minor but listening through ear buds it would help enhance the lows of the bass and the highs of the treble. The other thing is if you are into accessories, there are not as many to choose from as other players.
Extremely Cool!

This is my 3rd Zune from Microsoft. I used up all the memory on my 80 gig, so I decided to buy a Zune 120, and also decided to shell out the extra 20$(?) for the Gears of War Content. I must say, this Zune is very sexy. It’s sleek, shiny, and has has an awesome logo on the back. The only thing I was disappointed with was the standard headphones. They sound good, but the premium ones that came with my 80 gig are exceptionally better. If you are a gamer and want a Zune, this one is definitely the one to get, even for the Gears of War swag that’s comes along with it.
Awesome product

Wanted a new player after my 80gb zune got drowned. After my initial zune experience, there was no way I could go back to another player.
Obviously I wanted the biggest and best, so the 120 was the one for me. And the GOW 2 theme only made the best better. I couldn’t ask for a better player.
Zune 120 Gears of War Edition
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’m really proud of my Zune 120. It far exceeds the iPod I used to have. I really enjoy the Zune software too. Everything just works alot simpler on the Zune. Music organization is much easier and straight forward. The only problem I’ve had with mine so far is that it has very weak wi-fi reception. I’ve talked to other people and they don’t seem to have the same problem so it may just be a problem with mine. I definitely recommend investing in one of these. You will not be disappointed!
zune 120 GB Video MP3 Player
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Worked Great at first, then the zune would not turn on. Notified Microsoft regarding the problem, Microsoft sent a box to return the zune. Received notification on 5/1/09 the unit is replaced. I’ve owned Zune 8GB and never had a problem. Maybe this 120 GB zune was a lemon. I would still buy another zune even through I’ve had somewhat of bad luck with this one.
Tunes so much more than IPOD
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This was purchased as a Christmas gift for a 20 year old college student. He loves the thing. It has so much more capabilty! He still loves to listen to the radio dontcha know! He is very happy and thinks this version with the icon ROCKS! It is nice. It is lazered etched and way cool. If you comparsion shop Tunes to IPOD, you will see for yourself the vast difference between the two.
Gears Zune Rocks
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The Gears of War 2 Zune is awesome, the exclusive content on it is incredible. Totaly worth the few extra bucks over a normal 120Gb Zune. The only problem I found, was the up/down and left/right buttons were a little finicky, and need to be pushed just right to work.
Zune 120 Review THE REVIEW THAT ACTUALLY GIVES YOU THE ANSWERS YOU WANT!!!!!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Okkkkk so first off I have previous own a first generation zune which stop working and i had a iPod touch 16gb which was having problems. Sooooooo I just bough my new zune 120 for the price that i think is a steal. Now in my opinion the zune is still not better the iPod because of the different things that the iPod touch can do. But when it really comes down to it the main purpose of this product is to play music. With the iPod touch you cant barely put all my music on it let along some of the applications the i wanted so videos was out of the question. With this zune i was able to put allllll my music and still have room. The new touchpad is ok not really such a big deal to me because it can be clumsy at times when trying to select something. Now I was very disappointment but not some much because cheap Microsoft did not increase the size of the screen but I can live with that. The thing that really stands out in this mp3 play is the same as the old one. The sound quality. The sound quality is incredible, far better than the iPod touch so this is great this is exactly what I bought it for so that’s a big plus, you hear sounds very clearly and even some instruments that you haven’t notice before. Now the thing that me and a lot of users hate is the fact THAT WE DONT HAVE A EQUALIZERRRRRRRR come on man this is really something that is need, I love to hear my music with higher bass then anything else. So now the last thing that I am very mad about is the fact that this is a limited edition product and IT DOESN’T INCLUDE THE PREMIUM HEAD PHONESSSSSS…. COME ON THIS IS THE LIMITED EDITION VERSION WHY NOT PUT IN PREMIUM HEAD PHONESSSSS…. Well Those are the reasons why I can give it a 5. Oh and the fact that it uses a hard drive with moving parts and not flash so this means it cant take to much falls. This product is a 3.5 in my opinion, hope this helps you guys.
If you love videos in your Zune DON’T BOTHER.
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I want to start this off by saying all the positive things these people are saying about the Zune are true. This GoW Zune looks amazing. The screen is crisp and pleasing to the eye. The sound quality is very good, theres a couple of cute games on there if you like poker or puzzle games.
I have the Zune pass so i download unlimited music every month for 15 bucks. (with the exception of a couple of bands who make you pay, I am looking at YOU Red Hot Chili Peppers)
You might be asking yourself “This does NOT sound like a 3 star review so far….”
And you know what, if music was all i wanted this Zune for it WOULD be a 5 star review.
What drops this down to 3 is the fact that the MICROSOFT ZUNE does not support WMV files.
WindowsMediaVideo files.
Microsoft windows. Microsoft Zune.
The only video i’ve been able to watch so far have been the GoW ones that came with the Zune, and the one free episode of “Parks and Recreation” they give you at the Zune store.
My digital movies all come from Amazon Digital and from Digital copies of DvDs i buy. All very legal, all very much mine to put on my Zune.
Then i use windows to save them to my hard drive as WMV files.
I thought maybe i was dumb and didn’t understand the workings of the Zune, that probably in a couple days i’d stumble upon a way that the Zune softwear would convert my files to be Zune friendly. Instead i googled “Why won’t my Zune play my WMV files” and found this to be a common frustration with Zune owners. That microsoft is “First and foremost a music player…” (quoted from Microsoft VP J. Allard when asked about why Zune doesn’t support WMV files)
Well, if you, like me are shelling out 230-330 bucks (depending on the add ons a protective case and what not) then i’m guessing your going to want your video files to play on it as well.
Well tough luck says Microsoft.
Well **** you Microsoft.
I thought i’d left greedy bull**** behind with the Ipod.
Apparently not.
A solid product
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Been using mine for 4-5 months now, and have had no complaints at all. The Zune (at least mine anyway) is a very solid built MP3 player that definitely has all the functionality necessary to provide you a good musical experience. Would definitely recommend this to others! (Well, at least I’d recommend the normal Zune to others)
Zune 120 works great
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have had the Zune for a few months now, and think its a great all purpose mp3/media player.
The only reason I did not give it 5 stars, is the software is lacking features that power users would want. For instance, you cant drag and drop mp3/media directly to the Zune software (itunes supports this).
Also, microsoft made some dumb assumptions on how people create playlists on the fly while listening to the Zune. The concept of quick playlists was removed during a recent firmware upgrade in favor of something called “now playing” which is not persistant between power cycles. I found this feature not usable.
It only supports wmv and mp4 video formats, which is a typical microsoft annoyance, you end up having to convert alot of divx movies to something the Zune prefers.
Other than that, the Zune works very well. It supports music, movies, podcasts, videocasts (awesome selection of free content), cool games, radio, market place, wireless access to sync and browse the marketplace to download songs. If you have multiple Zunes you can also trade (wirelessly) songs with the others.
If you have an xbox360 and a live account, it integrates with your microsoft points and your xbox360 live account for music purchases and the like. Its all works seemlessly.
Good Deal

zune 120 issues
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought a zune 120 back in january 09, had minor issues here and there nothing that couldn’t be fixed. then around late may all of sudden my zune shows a screen 3 (please wait) and draining the battery didn’t work to fix that problem. another issue is when I tried to submit a online repair request (my zune is still under warranty) it always leads to error. I could navigate any where else on the zune site but i can’t submit a repair request. Zune 120 GB Video MP3 Player, Gears of War 2 Special Edition (Black)
120 GB Zune for the price of 8GB of apple!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Got what I believe to be an absolute steal of a deal for the 120 GB Gears of War 2 Zune. Was just over $200 when I ordered it. Is everything I could ask for in an Mp3 player without the price tag of an apple product. Love it!
Zune > iPod
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
There’s no argument, Zunes completely blow iPods out of the water in terms of ease of use, huge screen size, storage space, touch pad controls, inclusion of radio, ability to purchase songs from radio, ability to send songs to other Zune users, etc.
No more going in circles forever with that clickwheel. Simply swipe your thumb up or down the touchpad and it will quickly scroll through your list. Or scroll slowly to easily pick out an artist from your list.
Quit waiting, buy a Zune, you’ll never go back to iPods.
Refurbished unit?

I think I received a refurbished unit. When I opened the package, I immediately noticed the cut sticker on one side of the box. When I took out the unit from the box and turned the unit on, I immediately noticed that its 85% charged.

I had a 160GB iPod Classic and I was rather impressed with it but then after seeing friend’s Zunes and how much more user friendly and sleek they looked always wanted one larger than an 80GB….then Microsoft answered my prayers and made not only a 120GB monster they made one with Gears of War 2 stuff on it!! I finally jumped upon the Zune band wagon and I’m far more impressed with the Zune than the iPod….it feels really nice in your hand and the iPod seems much heavier….the Zune also seems less prone to destruction such as scratches and the likes as the iPod is cromed out and too shiny all around….but the Zune’s laser etched back and design is less scratch prone and much nicer looking all together…..the “Crimson Omen” on the Gears 2 edition is extra nice…giving it the look gamers and Gears of War fans will drool over……sound quality wise I will give the edge to the Zune as well…for some reason I was listening to my iPod with Bose headphones and noticed far more distortion and crackling in the headphones than the Zune which seemed pretty clear no matter what I listened to….and in my truck through the auxilary port the Zune also seemed to sound more clear and had more precise bass…not to mention the Zune’s screen is about double the iPod’s size and has better resolution it seems and the Gears of War pictures allows for some cool customizations…..all in all the Zune is a true iPod killer as someone mentioned before…I’m thoroughly impressed with the Zune functionality, sound quality, interface, and over all quality…not to mention the Zune Tunes is every bit as easy to use….drag and drop…a great MP3 player Microsoft has won this old iPod lover over! To protect your investment I recommend a screen protector and the clear Speck Dragon Toughskin so you can still see the ultra-cool “Crimson Omen” etched on the back of your awesome Zune.
Zune worth considering
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Like it better than my Ipod classic (mainly the much better screen). Would compare it more to an ipod classic than an ipod touch. I think they are much different devices and price points. I miss not have all the ipod accessories that are available but I am still very happy with the Zune.
OMG i love my Zune
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is my favorite mp3 player on the market. The zune completley owns the ipod. I love the size of capacity it has. And the videos come out crystal clear. Anyone saying that theres something wrong with this product should just stick with their Ipud. I will never go back to apple. microsoft i belong to you!
Gears of War Zune
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The Gears of War Edition of the Microsoft Zune is a great buy. If your not really into the whole Gear of War the then I would of course say to say the few extra bucks and just get the regular edition 120GB Zune. I would say my two only complaints about this product would be:
1. It does not come with the premium headphones like the 80Gb one did.
2. It did not come with the 1st GOW commmercial or the song Mad world on the unit.
Those two things asside and I love my GOW Zune.
Zune vs ipod Classic
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
So my 30gb ipod classic was full and I was searching for a new mp3 player. I loved my classic and was considering purchasing one of the new 120gb Classics or whatever the most recent, high storage capacity ipod there was. However, I play my Xbox 360 religiously and have never enjoyed the sync it has with the ipod and the zune was supposedly much more compatible as it was made by microsoft. My only other gripe with my classic was the click wheel not always responding, like say through gloves, mittens, my pants, etc. and some problems with the itunes interface taking too long to read songs or any other number of problems.
Three of my co-workers switched from ipod to zune and all of them enjoyed the zune much more, so being a GOW fan and seeking better syncing with my 360, I bought the Zune. First off, I love the Zune Marketplace, it looks nicer, it feels a bit more smooth, and has some customization options. It also found more album art and song info than my itunes. The only thing that caused frustration was converting all my music to be compatible with my Zune as not all of my music was on my laptop (much of it was lost when my brother’s pc crashed and I had misplaced many of my cd’s one of the many times I cleaned my house). However, after I got all of the grunt work out of the way, my Zune experience has been excellent. I prefer the D-pad to the click wheel as it is able to be read through various of my articles of clothing. the ability to customize backgrounds is sweet, and the audio quality is on par if not better than my old ipod. Also, with my ipod I had to constantly switch the Equalizer depending on which type of music I was listening to, while the Zune seems to optimize almost all of them (not all the time, but some of the time is better than never).
I’m very happy with my Zune, the added Gears content is pretty cool and my experience with it has been nothing short of awesome.
120GB Gears Zune
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This Zune is a great purchase only because I’m a big fan of the games.
But if you’ve owned a 1st generation Zune this may be somewhat ackward.
I use my Zune at work and it’s located in my front pocket, I like to be able to change songs at will and locking isn’t efficient. Because of the now raised buttons instead of the previous sunken buttons I am forced to lock. Also, I feel cheated because there is no equalizer on the new Zune.
zune 120 GB brand spankin new!! and well worth the price!!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
i purchased the zune gears of war 120gb, had it shipped to my mother’s place and she sent it to me where i am satationed overseas for OIF, as amazon does not ship electronics to the red zone… it came within 3 weeks or so, and was in perfect condition…never out of the box. i enjoy it every day, mostly during work hours and at the gym, i will probably never go back to the old ipod.
the only dowside is that it is completely black, so when i resently asked a famous fitness guru to sign it…. well you get the picture.
10/10 + 5 stars and 2 thumbs up.
It will ruin your life!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I love this player! I feel like I can get nothing done becuase all I want to do is use it! I was not really into the video game, but I loved the art and concept so I bought the zune. The images are awesome! I watched some of the videos I didn’t think I would even care about and love the images I can use as my background.
The player itself is amazing and I can’t stop just surfing through all the music I can download with my zune pass. TheZune Home AV Pack v2 makes it even better. The AV pack allows me to enjoy all these things on my television with visual quality I never expected. I’m already working on my friends to get one so we can share music on the social.
This is a very exciting product I definatly don’t regret investing in.
More than happy
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I am more than happy with the Zune I purchased. With the addition of a couple of accesories, it has become the perfect multi media player. I run it through my X-box 360 and watch all of my movies without having to worry about the “red ring of death” from overheating. With the addition of travel speakers I can use it in the laundry room while doing America’s favorite chore! Not to mention it comes with a set of headphones for those with more conventional tastees. Worth every penny.
AMAZING!!!!!!!!

This is an AMAZING Zune. It’s got Gears of War 2 soundtracks, pictures, videos and more. The new Zune firmware contains games as well as wireless syncing. 120 GB of memory. That’s ALOT of music and movies.
I am really glad I bought this, and I don’t regret it at all!! I recommend getting one. You won’t be sorry.
Enjoy

I already like the zune. I have a 30Gb and wanted more memory. I am also a fan of Gears of War so when I saw this I had to have it. I have been using it and have it about half way full and with even a ton of music and video on it it doesn’t slow down one bit. The product works great alone and with my xbox 360. Altogether the product it a great buy.

Many iPods ago…..

I believed they were the end all be all of mp3 devices..no longer.
This is a quality product and those before me have stated the positives of this player, I won’t repeat them.
As a long time (6 years) iPod user I was convinced to switch after using a friends Zune. I do not dislike my iPod but the Zune feels fresh to me.
I bought the GoW 2 Edition because it’s a great game, but I am a fanatic over limited edition anything lol. The Crimson Omen on the back is awesome, the content is..OK, but nothing to squeel about.
I am 100% satisfied with this purchase.
ZUNE 120GB, IT”S NOT AN APPLE…IT”S AMAZING
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ll just get down to the good stuff:
The GOOD: 120GB memory, the battery life is pretty good…I haven’t had it die on me and I have kept it on for 6-8hrs, smooth design, solid in hand, fast responses when selecting items from lists or listening/fast forwarding, plays different audio files, NOT an Apple Ipod product, doesn’t glitch/freeze, by far the best mp3 player and more, with a great screen for movies too.
The BAD: I really don’t consider anything to be bad yet, my friends that have the Apple Ipods say that it doesn’t have the click wheel, so I guess that’s all I got.
If you don’t like Apple products, the “Ipod”, then the Zune players are a great choice. Worth every penny!!!
What this zune can do.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
So this is my third or fourth zune, depending on what you would call replacements as from microsoft. And it’s an amazing device, has so much storage and when it says the new screen is un scratch able, they are very correct. I dropped mine going about 20 miles an hour and the other sides scratched but the screen is still brand new. The pre loaded content is a blast. From the music score to the videos to all the pictures it comes with. Easy function ability. If anyone is looking to get a hardcore gears of war 1 or 2 fan a great gift, this would be it. Has everything you need from size, durability, and awesome GOW logo.

Perfect Media Player
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is one of THE BEST media players out there. I owned a Toshiba Gigabeat, because I have been one of the persons that is an anti-apple-anything kinda guy.
Despite the fact that getting the music organized was one real pain in the butt, eventually, once the trick behind the Zune’s organizational architecture was realized, it became very easy to do everything on it. Now, I am following Heroes Season 1 on it….because its video resolution is perfect, and the sound quality is fantastic.
I don’t know why I never thought of buying a Zune earlier, probably because they didn’t have the 120GB ones before…plus, this deal from Amazon is cheaper than anyone or anything else that has comparable features.

Excellent Customer Service
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I filled my 30Gig with my music collection and was very happy with the Zune product. I dropped the device and shattered the screen, even though the device still operated these two factors justified the purchase of a new bigger player. The price of the Gears of War 120Gig edition appealed so I took the plunge. Alas after one days use the lock switch became stuck in the locked position, rendering the device inoperable. I used the internet customer service for the Zune product, received a replacement unit and I am syncing my music and podcasts at this moment. Overall I am pleased with the product.
